Toasted Honey Nut Fig Skillet Baked Brie

Who doesn’t love a good melty specialty cheese? Creamy local brie meets aromatic toasted walnuts. Drizzles of floral honey accent plump figs and fresh rosemary. Flaky salt gives a “bite”, rounding out the rich and creamy sweetness. The perfect simple appetizer, best served with slices of French baguette, tiny toasts, seeded crackers, and sliced pears or apples.

Ingredients

• 1 wheel of Brie or Camembert
• 1/4 cup local honey
• 1/2 cup toasted walnuts, roughly chopped
• Pinch of rosemary sprigs, finely chopped or whole - your preference
• 3 Tbsp. whole dried mission figs
• Maldon original flaky salt
• Local crackers for serving

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°. With a sharp knife, remove the rind from the top of the Brie by cutting lengthwise (this makes it easy to serve!)
2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, add walnuts to toast. Stir occasionally until nuts are fragrant, around 4 minutes. Give them a dash of sea salt and set aside in a small glass bowl
3. Place the Brie into a cast iron skillet, and bake for 8-10 minutes, until softened but not melted
4. Slice figs lengthwise and set aside. Add honey to bowl of walnuts, tossing and stirring in rosemary sprigs.
5. When the cheese has baked, layer the mixture over top and garnish with figs and extra flaky salt. Serve with your favorite local crackers. Enjoy!
